First-time visitors to Dinthill Technical High School, located in Linstead, St Catherine, are usually captivated by the picturesque site on which it is situated.
Established in 1938, Dinthill was one of three institutions which provided hands-on training in the areas of agriculture and allied trades for young men between 15 and 17 who had not qualified for traditional grammar schools.
Undergoing a name change in the mid-50s, the school's focus was on expanding infrastructure and staff and student intake. Following a third and final name change to Dinthill Technical High School, and the enrolment of girls, the curriculum changed to emphasise technical and vocational training to meet the demands of the modern world. Through government assistance and the USAID Basic Skills project, Dinthill also offers automechanics, building and construction technology, home economics, agriculture and mechanical engineering, along with other subjects.
