Music on the streets

Mark and Candy give their views on some of the hottest current songs blazing up the airwaves.

'Livin legend' by Junior Reid featuring Bugle

MARK: Big up Junior Reid, the real Rasta man has returned to teach the lost ones how to unite, nuff respect to the one blood. Mi love how Junior and Bugle a shout out the real fallen soldiers who leave dem message so di rest a wi can improve upon and move on to a better way of life.

CANDY: Well, it's all nice to big up the popular people who were once with us but I appreciate the mention of everyday men who were decent citizens but lost their lives senselessly. I find it sad though, that they have to die before recogni-tion, appreciation and love are shown to our legends. Anyway, I love the track the most, the lyrics give the impression that the song should be called 'Fallen Soldiers Part Two'. The only difference is the listing of the members belonging to the 6' 6" society.

'Mash yuh works' by Demarco

MARK: That's why mi always a mek a man know seh it better yuh role by yuhself when a move fi mek 'cause there's no telling which crab in a di barrel a go draw yuh down. Da one ya sell off still, a di best dancehall song mi hear so far. As far as good quality is concerned, Demarco a tek di game to a international level.

CANDY: Real t'ing mi frien', people need fi learn how fi hold dem mouth when it comes to talking out dem business. A nuff time a man drop out because him did a mek progress and him run go tell him 'friend' bout di likkle success weh God bless him wid. Yuh dun know seh a nuff a wi nuh like see a nex' man a step up lef wi ... real talk. The tune mad pan a different level still, love how Demarco a handle di t'ing.

DEMARCO

'Trailer load of money' by Vybz Kartel

MARK: "Yuh need fi go weh an return like di Jedi cuz time dread I". Yow Kartel a di boss. On a real level still, mi waan "mek money like mi print it, print it, print it, print it", nothing but straight forward fi da one yah.

CANDY: Now this is di Kartel I know and longed for. Mi really love how Vybz a mek a positive change, di other artiste dem need fi follow di trend so we cyan buil' back di society. I pray for di days when money jus' a flow and di place start run proper, trust mi, Fadda wi need yuh help. The video deserve a forward too, its simplicity was surprising, it's a major upgrade from the ones before.

VYBZ KARTEL

'Scream' by t.o.k

MARK: Yow, T.O.K need fi employ some ghostwriters Jah know, is like all a dem songs a seh di same t'ing. Only di track alone sell off.

CANDY: Di track sound wicked fi real but as yuh seh, T.O.K need some new topics. Di shallow gun tune dem nah mek it fi 2008, money ova war, dat wi seh.

T.O.K.
