Biko Kennedy and Stephanie Lyew, Youthlink Writers

With the Youth View Awards (YVAs) only days away, we hope you've already secured that red-carpet outfit or at least have an idea of what it is that you want to wear. If not, the Hype Crew and our style team have a few tips for you. Check out what we think would be young, hot and hype for the YVAs.

'Apart from dressing young, hot and hype, which is a sense of their own sense of style, I think they should just dress tastefully; not like for an ordinary party because nothing about the YVAs is ordinary. They just need to step up their games, look great and have their own personal style, looking like they're ready to rock the red carpet." - Karen Clarke (producer of YVAs)

Outfit from Grandeur Femme.

"You want an ensemble that looks great on you, but don't overdo it. Don't wear more than three pieces of jewellery or more than three colours. Don't dress like a rock star unless you're actually in a band." -Rodje

Sequinned dresses from Glamour Touch Fashion

'Dressing for an awards ceremony, you need to be looking your utmost best. For a man, a blazer over a shirt can bring off your look, depending on how you put them together; a bow tie or a skinny tie can top off your outfit. Never forget that your hair must be freshly cut."

FRANZique Shirt from FRANZique and yellow skinny tie from Grandeur Male.

"I think a person should have an individual style but keep it classy (never trashy), and make sure not to try to duplicate any other fashion icon totally. For example, maybe find a uniquely designed scarf or any other accessory and add it to the outfit." - Khloe

Jumpsuit and feathered necklace are from FRANZique.

"Unfortunately, not all styles will flatter curvy bodies, but when you dress, embrace your figure. At times you may feel frustrated at not being able to wear ultra-fashionable styles, but certain items will always suit you. Whether it's that fitted jacket, strapless or one-shoulder, asymmetric dress or crisp shirt, just rock it with the utmost confidence."

Chadeh wears a one-shoulder, long sleeve, asymmetric dress from Grandeur Femme.

"The most dramatic improvement you can make in your style for the YVAs 2012 is to make sure everything fits impeccably. Most guys wear clothing that is too large. Make sure everything you wear is properly cut to fit your frame - without being tight. Bad fits are an epidemic, cure yourself!" - Rohan Perry

Cardigan, striped long-sleeve dress shirt from Grandeur Male; red dress from Glamour Touch Fashion.

"Have a unique take on whichever trend is in now. Seeing that everyone is rocking varying colours in cardigans and snapbacks, find the cardigan that is designed differently or cut uniquely and make it your own. Don't go for the typical Vans or Chuck Taylors, maybe go for a Kenneth Cole- designed shoe or something of that variety."

Adrian sports a cardigan and dress shirt from FRANZique and Khloe dons a strapless dress from Glamour Touch Fashion.

"For an awards ceremony of any type, it's best to go formal, and though formal is always nice, make it more funky fresh. Instead of a three-piece suit, try a blazer and slim-fit jeans or tailored paints and dress shirt. Females should avoid too short a dress; keep it classy yet trendy. Remember, no sneakers, especially not with a tailored suit, and no slippers!"
