Music on the streets
Mark and Candy, Youthlink's straightforward, dynamic duo, are giving their views on some of the hottest songs blazing the airwaves, taking over your tubes and keeping you hype on the dance floor.
'So Sophisticated' by Rick Ross featuring Meek Mill
@CandywithaC: Rick Ross is so overrated. His flow is the same on every song he does. I'm sure more people will grow tired of his recycled lyrics and his grunt, in due time. Meek Mill owned this song, though. Thanks to him this almost impeccable beat wasn't wasted.
@MarknoCandy: First, I didn't know that so many things rhymed with sophisticated (laughs). Second, I honestly have to disagree with you about Rozay. Right now he is the most consistent rapper in terms of having a dominant presence. He is in the forefront of the game. Granted, his flow is basically the same on most tracks, but the same can be said for Meek. It really just seems like Meek is yelling a bunch of words that just happened to rhyme (shrugs).
@CandywithaC: Take away the grunt and no one will care about Rick Ross. Truth be told, by next year Meek Mill can easily surpass Rick Ross' success.
'Jingalin' by Ludacris
@CandywithaC: (Sighs) Why, Ludacris, why? This sounds like a beat that Soulja Boy should be on. Ludacris will forever remain underrated if he continues like this (shakes head). I'm almost sure that you'll like this beat, Mark, because as usual you always fall in love with rubbish.
@MarknoCandy: So you consider yourself rubbish (laughs)? The beat is actually not bad at all, just different from what seems to be the norm today. Luda, though, just appears to be auditioning for Rick Ross' MMG label. I mean, it's basically Meek Mill's flow mixed with Wale-esque lyricism and Ross' word play. That this is to be the lead single for his upcoming album is quite a disappointment.
@CandywithaC: Ha! Good try, Mark (rolls eyes). Ludacris obviously doesn't want to be topping charts with this song. After such a long hiatus, with this song people will continue to label him as irrelevant.
'Love Summer' by Khago
@CandywithaC: I'm so happy that Khago's songs aren't about friendship problems anymore (laughs). He actually might have a hit on his hands with this one. I really hope the music video isn't a disappointment.
@MarknoCandy: This is just an okay song; nothing intriguing about it. The riddim, on the other hand, will definitely receive heavy rotation because almost every song on the Sun Tan riddim just has that party vibe that everybody craves during the summer period.
@CandywithaC: As much as I hate to say this, I agree with you. Khago will definitely receive success from this song because of the other songs on the riddim. It's not a bad song, though, but it just can't stand alone.
