Talking Heads

Adrian King,Youthlink Writer

Name: Raymond Thompson

Age: 17

Do you think that teens should be chaperoned by their parents or other responsible adults on their first date?

Teens should not be chaperoned by their parents on the first date. The most their parents should do is drop them off and pick them up at the end.

What wouldn't expect from the person you are out with on a first date?

On the first date I would not expect much because on the first date you are just getting to know what she is like. So, on the first date, I would not expect much.

What is your ideal place for a first date?

My ideal place for a first date would have to be a place where dinner is served and we can talk and get to know the other person better.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you on a date?

I can't think of a most embarrassing moment on a date, other than my date forgetting my name while introducing me to her friends.

Name: Toby Johnson

Age:19

Do you think that teens should be chaperoned by their parents or other responsible adults on their first date?

I think it depends one the age of the teens and whether it's a boy or girl. If I were a parent I would tend to be more protective of my girl.

What wouldn't you expect from the person you are out with on a first date?

For her to run towards another man and hug him or flirt with other guys while I am with her.

What is your ideal place for a first date?

Somewhere that plays her favourite live music would be the ideal place to take her. It would be guaranteed that she would enjoy herself and take the pressure off me to entertain her.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you on a date?

I once called my date another girl's name, multiple times. She splashed soda in my face.

Name: Yanik Morgan

Age:19

Do you think that teens should be chaperoned by their parents or other responsible adults on their first date?

No, because I don't think that would help their children's self-esteem.

What wouldn't you expect from the person you are out with on a first date?

I don't know what I would not expect. I would leave it up to the date.

What is your ideal place for a first date?

Any one of the garrison districts (laughs). The movies then a nice Chinese restaurant for dinner would be perfect.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you on a date?

One time my girlfriend fell and bumped her head on the floor and everyone in the room laughed at us.

Name: Alexandre Robinson

Age:17

Do you think that teens should be chaperoned by their parents or other responsible adults on their first date?

Depends on how well their parents know their teen's date and where they met. If he or she met the person on the Internet, then that date should be chaperoned.

What wouldn't you expect from the person you are out with on a first date?

I wouldn't expect a bad attitude. I would be very upset and maybe even ditch my date.

What is your ideal place for a first date?

Somewhere secluded, like at a park, where we could have a picnic, really get to know the person.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you on a date?

My friends screamed my nick name across the room while I was with my date and everybody laughed.
